For the past 17 years I have had the honor and privilege of serving the people of the County of Los Angeles as a Commissioner of the Los Angeles Superior Court, doing much the same work as a Judge.  Six years prior to being elected as a Commissioner, I was chosen by the former Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court, the Honorable Paul Boland to sit in the Juvenile Court as a Referee.  To date, I have decided well over 8,000 trials involving abused and/or neglected children in what is, one of the toughest assignments in the Superior Court.

In my 23 years on the bench as a Superior Court Commissioner and Referee, I have heard expert testimony from ER doctors, psychiatrists, and unfortunately, coroners regarding broken bones, burns, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and death. Many of the parents and children that come before me suffer from alcohol and drug addictions, or are involved in criminal street gangs.

I am charged with determining where the truth lies.  After assessing all evidence and often weighing opposing expert testimony, I alone must apply the law. Without the aid of a jury I must make a decision which does justice for the children, the family and the community.

I have a proven track record of fearlessly making tough decisions and have done so with compassion, fairness and integrity.  I have removed abusive parents from children’s lives and am proud to say that I have successfully and safely reunited parents with their children when others said it could not be done.

EVERY DAY I MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY.

I am seeking your support to continue this difficult yet important work.

EXPERIENCE MATTERS !!
